My Network: Access and Usage Guide

My Network helps you visualize your friend connections and see how your community is connected beyond direct contacts.

What My Network Shows

My Network displays:

  • You at the center of the graph
  • Your direct friends (1st-degree)
  • Extended connections (2nd, 3rd, and 4th-degree)
  • Relationship lines between people in your network
  • Summary stats such as direct contacts, mutuals, and total reach

Who Can Access It

My Network is available to all signed-in users.

How to Access My Network

  1. Go to Friends.
  2. Click My Network in the header (left of Friend Requests).
  3. The network graph will load automatically.

How to Use My Network

1. Read the graph

  • Nodes represent users.
  • Lines represent relationships.
  • Your node is highlighted as YOU.
  • Color/legend indicates connection depth (you, direct, 2nd-degree, etc.).

2. Change connection depth

Use the Show up to controls to switch between:

  • Direct contacts only
  • 2nd-degree
  • 3rd-degree
  • 4th-degree connections

This helps you move from a focused view to a wider discovery view.

3. Hover for quick info

Hover over a node to see:

  • Username
  • Connection level

4. Pan and zoom

You can:

  • Drag the canvas to pan
  • Zoom in/out for dense networks
  • Explore clusters of related users

Tips for Best Results

  • If your network looks small, add more friends first.
  • Use lower hop depth for cleaner, easier-to-read views.
  • Use higher hop depth when you want to discover broader community reach.

Troubleshooting

I don’t see My Network

  • Confirm you are signed in.
  • Open Friends and look for the My Network button near Friend Requests.

I only see myself

  • You may not have added friends yet.
  • Add friends from profile pages, then return to My Network.

The graph looks incomplete

  • Very large networks may be performance-limited to keep loading fast.
  • Try changing depth filters to inspect different portions of your network.

FAQ

Does this include people I’m not directly friends with?

Yes. Depending on the selected depth, My Network includes indirect connections up to the selected degree.

Does this change my friend list?

No. My Network is a visualization tool only. It does not modify your contacts.
